Field Marshall Series II Tractor Image 2

Publicity for the tractor stressed that the Field Marshall Tractor had 'only 66 working parts' compared to an average of 194 on a petrol tractor and would therefore only 'go wrong' a third as often!  Low-cost maintenance was claimed as another plus point.  In return for it's labour the tractor required de-carbonising once or twice each year and the simple design of the engine allowed an unskilled worker to carry out this task in 'three hours'.  Other claims were that 'tests' had shown that cylinder wear was only fifteen thousandths of an inch after three years service, and when required it was inexpensive and simple to have a new cylinder block fitted and start all over again.
